Nemo, Beylah, Annikens & Peasley Pottery

Some are calling it the storm of the century..."Nemo."  I doubt that will hold true, but the dumping of three feet of snow in one shot did break records for Maine.  I find it funny that we are now naming our storms, what's up with that? And Nemo for a Nor'Easter is rather far fetched considering Nemo was a clown fish and not much for arctic waters.  Anyhow, here are a few photo's of the storm...with horses.  Before the horses could get out, Richard did some snow removal and relocation to create a runway into the pasture.
Beylah (front) & her daughter, Annikens (rear)
The Norwegian Fjord Horse is truly built for this weather.  They LOVE the snow and cold!

The snow was quite deep in areas, but it just made it more fun for these two.  They figured out how to pack the snow by flopping over and using their body weight to flatten it out.
Anni rested like a dog for quite some time.

Meanwhile back at the pottery studio.....

I am still working on pieces for the wedding show in March.  I enjoy the detail work and had lots of it today!!

Calla Lily ~ large serving bowl
Lupine vase

I'm hoping to build a photography booth for shooting more professional photos of my pottery, the only thing is...it is on my list of 5 minute jobs to do, that I haven't found 5 minutes to do...let alone found 5 minutes to write the list!  Maybe tomorrow....

Also, here are a few yarn bowls from the glaze firing the other evening.....hmmm, these sure could use that photo booth!

Grab your yarn bowl and start knitting!  Have a safe, warm and happy weekend!

    1. AnnMarie, yes the horses just love the snow! I was surprised at some of the things they did too. I had never had horses that enjoyed it as much as these two do! Thank you for stopping by and checking out my shop! :)

  3. Wow, I live down on Long Island, and we got hit pretty hard with the snow too, but not as much as you guys got... those are great pictures of the horses!

Your work is beautiful. Whenever I hear pottery, I'm reminded of Demi Moore in "Ghost" sitting at the wheel, lol, but in all seriousness, your work is exquisite... even without a photography booth! :)

    1. We didn't get it too bad really, only two feet, which don't get me wrong..it was a lot in one storm, but we are use to a lot of snow up here. In Southern parts of Maine, they had up to three feet out of the one storm..and they are not use to it! I think the movie Ghost is the most popular "pottery" movie ever...I actually can't think of another, maybe that's why! ha ha Thanks for the encouraging words and glad you stopped by! :)

  11. Thank you akauffman! It was nice having a lot of fluffy snow for about a day...now, I'm over it, ready for Spring/Summer, green grass and blackflies. :) Okay, I could live without the blackflies, but right now blackflies would be a sign of warm weather!

  12. What beautiful horses. They looked like they were enjoying the snow.

Your pottery is beautiful. I'm sure it will be a big hit at the wedding show. Brides will want your lily bowl and lupine vase. Suggest they put you pottery shop on their gift registry.
